pauliina turakka purhonencurriculum pdfI work with people.
sometimes I paint portraits.
that means spending a lot of time with someone. usually we end up in unpredictable discussions.
with the sculptures I work with people in me, myself an others that are a part of me no matter what I want or decide.
sometimes the issues I deal with are painful or shameful.
It is a relief to be able to borrow a motive that is well and frequently used, a picture grown accurate during centuries of use.
the hardest thing in life are our relations to other people. We hardly notice them when everything is ok, but life gets seriously twisted when relations donīt work.
It is these twists that I try to look at.
I guess I hope I can solve real life by making pictures.
usually art turns out to be the thing I preoccupy myself with in order to handle the stress of not being ok, but sometimes it works: a piece shows me a problem or suggests solution.
