UNSSC 20th Anniversary Art Exhibition
In celebration of its twentieth anniversary, the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) presents a distinct climate action-focused art exhibition to inspire all to act as agents of change amidst the climate emergency. Commissioned in partnership with the Association Internationale pour la Biennale des Jeunes Créateurs d’Europe et de la Méditerranée (BJCEM), this timely exhibition raises awareness about Sustainable Development Goal 13 and brings together dynamic works by artists from across the globe.

Our Why

No one field or industry can solve our current climate change challenges. By stretching across disciplines and venturing into art, the Staff College continues its efforts to explore different mediums to foster climate change education.

There is a growing recognition that learning needs to be adapted to address the climate crisis. This initiative, therefore, aims to accelerate the exchange of ideas and build a richer understanding of how we can move from a position of fear and hopelessness about climate change to one where we take positive steps toward living in harmony with our environment. It presents an opportunity to collectively catalyze climate action movements and bridge existing learning gaps.

There is a duality in our mission for Fragile Soil, Fertile Souls. It not only promotes learning through art, but it also serves as a symbol of UNSSC’s work to further support United Nations’ efforts to achieve a climate-stable and environmentally just future for all.

Our Story

As the leading interagency learning organization of the United Nations, UNSSC has played a unique role in advancing learning to support of the UN system and partner organizations.

In celebration of our 20-year anniversary, we reflect on two decades of learning and training excellence. We also draw attention to one of the most pressing challenges of our time – climate change.

In the last decade UNSSC has developed a number of learning solutions to address the multifaceted effects of climate change. It has empowered stakeholders to help transform societies through learning programmes designed to develop knowledge and skills, as well as change attitudes and behaviours to foster a sustainable future. Delivering on our mandate has been done in a way that leverages creativity, innovation and ingenuity.

Our hope is that integrating this collaborative and experiential learning method will raise awareness about the numerous ways human action can help sustain our planet.
