Lorenzo Imola Born in Coriano (Italy), living in Nuuk (Kalaallit Nunaat/Greenland).
As a curator and scholar, his main area of expertise is visual arts in Iceland, Kalaallit Nunaat, and more generally the Nordic and Arctic regions, where I have mostly been living since 2013. He completed a BA in Art Theory and Philosophy from the University of Iceland, followed by a post-graduate diploma in Museum Studies at the same university, and a MA in Curating Arts and Cultures at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Over the years, he have worked as curator at Nuuk Art Museum (Kalaallit Nunaat), collaborating on a retrospective exhibition on the pioneering years of the Graphic Workshop in Nuuk (1972–1980). As curator-in-training at the National Museum of World Cultures in the Netherlands (2024–2025), I contributed to large exhibition projects related to Kalaallit Nunaat and China. He is interested in generative and transformative processes involved in transcultural exchange, as well as cultural and artistic practices that reflect (on) people’s attachment to places, the worldview and values underpinning it. His most recent research investigates arts festivals as meeting places, spaces for aesthetic experimentation and critical conversations; focusing on the Arctic region, he argue that festivals can provide platforms for politics and poetics of self-determination, while fostering connections across existing geopolitical constructs
